Sony Music announced the launch of its own new music service, called Sony Music Unlimited, at the recent Midem conference. The service, powered by Qriocity, will be a cloud-like service that will allow users to access their music across a range of devices including smartphones, video consoles, TVs, laptops, etc. It will shortly be available in 6 European territories.
For now, the service is only operable on various Sony devices, but there are plans to make it available on iOS and Android device as well. Users will be able to move their personal collections over to the service to make it accessible from the various devices. There are various tiers of the service, ranging from €3.99 to €9.99.
Rumors are that they plan to try to bring it to the US in the first or second quarter of this year. We’ve heard that one before. Will it work? Decide for yourself. Read more about the service here. -
