Digital Music News recently dug through the iTunes sales charts to take a look at the effect of variable pricing on sales. The labels finally got their way in 2008 when Apple agreed to move to a variable pricing model in their iTunes music store, which dominates the digital business. Prompted by the news that digital music sales plateaued in 2010, Digital Music news took a look at the relationship between song prices and the sales charts. Here’s what they found when looking at the top 200 selling singles:
