Despite being tops in display ads served in the U.S., Facebook continues to face challenges in converting those numbers to revenue. Nobody’s crying poor, but Facebook’s revenue per unique visitor is below many other prominent sites. Part of the problem may be what kinds of subjects users are in the mood to click through when they’re using a social networking site.
Silicon Alley Insider created a chart of the best and worst categories for clickthrough rates, based on an analysis conducted by Webtrends of Facebook ads. Here are the categories that were the worst in terms of clickthrough rates:
1. Healthcare
2. Computers and Software
3. Conferences and Events
4. Grocery Stores
5. Telecommunications
6. Financial Services
7. Local Services -
