The latest iteration of the Pew Internet & American Life Project shows the rapid growth of Wireless services in the U.S. In the 4th quarter study, 59% of Americans reported regular wireless Internet usage. This includes laptops, as well as smartphones, tablets and other wireless devices. The comparable figure for Q4 2009 was 51%.
Not surprisingly, the study indicates that the vast majority of this growth is due to the rapid adoption of smartphones. In fact, mobile phone ownership didn’t increase, but more owners have either upgraded to smartphones, or have started to use these devices to the full extent of their abilities.
