RIM, makers of Blackberry, are about to enter the tablet race. Their PlayBook tablet, using the Blackberry OS, is scheduled to go on sale April 10th. RIM announced its intention to sell a tablet several months ago, but their press conference at the time offered few details. Therefore, few outside of the company have seen what it looks like or what it’s capable of.
This will be an important move for RIM. The Blackberry, once the coolest smartphone on the market, has fallen behind the iPhone and Android in smartphone market share. And, while the iPad dominates the tablet market, Android-powered devices from various manufacturers are also making inroads.
