Tracking Twitter Usage

The Silicon Alley Insider's analysis of Twitter's user base shows that about 1/3 of Twitter users are following no one else and that 1/2 of the Twitter users have no one following them. SAI's article said that they wanted to find out how many active users Twitter actually has. As a measure of engagement, the authors quoted Facebook's definition of an active user. Facebook says that they don't believe a user will stick around unless they have at least 10 friends.

There's nothing that says that this metric applies to twitter as well as Facebook, but the Silicon Alley Insider study showed a fairly low percentage of Twitter users following that many other accounts. Get all the numbers here.
