The IAB and PriceewaterhouseCoopers have released a study of online ad revenue for 2010 showing another record year. The figure for total online revenue was $26 billion. The fourth quarter alone accounted for $7.5 billion, an increase of 19% from Q4 2009. The report also noted that mobile ad revenue was somewhere between $550 and $650 million for 2010.
Among the details on the types of online ads and how they performed was the fact that performance-based advertising continues to lengthen its lead over impression-based advertising. How much of this is a result of advertisers changing their approach and how much is due to certain sector lacking smart impressions was not addressed in this study.
