The film, "The Secret" was released in 2006. It was based on a book of the same name by Rhonda Byrne.
The film and book discuss the "Law of Attraction" and the "secret" to manifesting whatever you wish in your life.
The premise of the Law of Attraction is that our thoughts determine our lives, and that by carefully curating our thoughts we can determine our life path.
Everything is energy. The Law of Attraction states "like attracts like." If you think positive thoughts, you will create positive things and experiences.
The premise has been both revered and mocked.
The mocking generally comes from people who reject what they call mysticism or pseudoscience.
Many people see "The Law" as some kind of magic, or woo-woo hocus pocus type stuff.
As someone who has studied everything from spirituality and mysticism, to science and psychology, I think the effectiveness of the so-called "law of attraction" has roots in all of these areas.
In my opinion, the biggest impact on the effectiveness of the law of attraction, is psychological.
Our self-talk, limiting beliefs and self-imposed limitations are hugely impactful. It's as simple as if you say you can't do something, more often than not you can't.
If you approach a new challenge with a positive mindset and a "can-do" attitude, more often than not you will be successful.
The sooner you can notice and rework your inner narrative, the more quickly you can achieve, or manifest the things you want in life.
Our beliefs system creates its own type of energy.
Approach life positively you will not only notice, but appreciate and attract more positive things and experiences. This type of thinking builds a momentum of its own.
Magic or science? Call it what you will, the mind is extremely powerful.
Maybe there is some kind of magic to that fact after all.
