There's No Place Like Home

I'm going back to Los Angeles this week.
The place I called home for 15 years.
The place I "escaped" from to go back to my original home, four years ago.
My first back was a year and a half after I first left.
While I had come to terms with many of the things that I had grappled with, I was still figuring myself out.
As I am today.
The visit was a complex jumble of thoughts, feelings and emotions.
This week I go back and I realize that maybe home is not a single place, nor a single feeling.
Maybe "home" evolves as we do.
Maybe we can have several homes.
Maybe none of our homes will bring us constant comfort or refuge from the storms.
Maybe we collect the people and places that feel like home.
Maybe first, we find home within ourselves.
Maybe when we find our own home, all the other places and people are vacation homes.
We don't stay there often, but we carry them with us always, always a part of not just our foundation, but our constant remodeling.
